I think GW is very lenient in term of grinding. Honestly, I don't see why people are so concerned about the grinding. A huge majority of these "grinding" are totally optional. Titles are a grind, but they're all optional. If people think the Sunspear skills are grinding, then they just think PVE is grinding, cause I have no problem getting rank 7 with any characters in Elona. Luxon/Kurzick, yea that totally grinding, but guess what, the skill is PVE only too, and it totally optional. FoW armor are so expensive, takes alot of "grinding" to get one. Well guess what, it has the same stats as 1.5k armor. I may be from the woods, but I think that means FoW armor and elite armors are optional.

Getting skills and elite skills are grinding? I'll buy that. I admit before Elite Skill Tomes, you would have to grind your character to that boss location. Great addition with the Elite Skill Tome. And to get normal skills for your characters, you have to, like, develop your character, like, a RPG game? Nah, makes too much sense, let just play the grind card.

What about weapons? You would have to beat Faction or NF campaign to get a guarantee fairly decent wep/item. Totally grinding, I think. There are collectors that require 5 collectable drops to get a fairly decent maxed item. GRINDING! What nonsense is that? Having PVE character to PVE to get items. Screw it, just get the weapon unlocked for Pvp-Only. But that means I have to GRIND for Bath Factions. Have to do Training Arena, Zaishen Challenge, or Random Arenas to get those points. I have to use my PVP chars to PVP. That's so dumb! I hate this game. Reroll Doom, cause there no grinding in that game.

Dang maybe GW is a grind-fest game. They should just give everything to you when you first created your first character. That'll address this grinding problem.

Ive read every post here with care and until now I understood why people are frustrated with the game and these new changes, the new game will not bring the old days back thats something only we can do. Today I will delete every character I have along with every piece of vanity equipment, then I will use the gold to buy a simple weapon that appeases me, save some for max armor and start enjoying the game again as a newborn guildwars player. Why keep constantly adapting to changes you dont agree with, this way the changes are already part of the game when you start it. Anet can't bring back the old days when people actually cared more about having a good time with eachother, almost everyone in the entire player base is consistanly trying to get some sort of reward and then grind on to the next to show them they are better then others or show themselves they could do it. Think of this you already have those items, skills, whatsoever all they require is time. By deleting all my characters I will try to bring back the spirit of those old days when guildwars was fun, we have nothing to lose.

I have to admit, I've been tempted to do that. I periodically make new characters because I love the progression so I've spread my achievements over many characters. But I think you are right to point out that there is something to don't get from the game, when you already have everything. If I wasn't so attached to my characters, I'd do the same thing.. Maybe once I get Defender of Tyria & lock it into the HoM, I'll remake a few of my characters..

Hey you! Don't you dare insult the GW voice acting! My guild wars playing friend and I have SO many inside jokes thanks to that voice acting. For example, when something good happens, one of us bursts out "Mhenlo, come celebrate with us!" in our best Togo-voice possible

It isn't. I like the game too. Being a fanboy is much different than liking the game

Everyone plays the game differently, so what one sees as an improvement another sees as a problem.

Alot of people from the PvE side have been wanting more areas like FOW, UW, and SF. And since release the demand for just an exspansion has been mentioned alot.

Is it enough to tie us over? I dunno, but people played GW for a year till Factions came out, and people are still playing across all 3 chapters. I don't see how another add-on can be a bad thing or force someone to rage quit.

btw I love how people say 'beta was the best" and "GW has been getting worse since April 05". So it was only good for about a month?

I been able to keep busy for the 26 months I put into it.

Well said, ignore the elitist beta players who think they actually have something to say that people will listen to.

This could have been the Domain of Anguish but Anet made it ridiculously hard so that cheap tactics and glitches are the ONLY way to win, which is not fun in any way.

dunno, my expectations pretty much stop at the fact that it will be released this year. my interest in the game tends to come and go (right now it's seriously coming...er...let's just say i'm into playing it atm) i took a break and played wow for a while then came back before factions...played a while then (for some weird reason) played the crap outta planetside (which is pretty much a dead game...wish i found it sooner) then came back a ways before nf and have been playing since (though i messed around with elder scrolls for while).

gwen will show up and probably be fun to play for a while and then hellgate: london will come out. probably going to play that (a lot of old friends are getting back together for that...back from the days of swg and jk2 and ut and stuff). though i'm undoubtably going to play the crap out of hellgate, i'm sure i'll at least pop into gw from time to time.

probably if i'd been playing gw solidly for the last 2 years, i'd be perma burned out and constantly wanting more and more from it. i'm glad i didn't.

edit: oh and i've been playing since beta...i know [i]i've[/] gotten better at the game since then (started as a secondary healer r/mo with some silly crap like ignite arrows and power shot or something)

Wow this sure seems to stir up a lot of emotions on both sides of the issue.

Most of the "nay sayers" seem to be old school players that have been around for a long time. They've seen alot of changes (some good - some not so good) and now all they see is the game going downhill. Well if you got 2 years or so enjoyment out of playing with no monthly fees then you ought to feel great about the game. I can't think of a single game that I have played constantly for 2 years. People's moods and interests change - thats life.

I was introduced to GW by my son - we we're playing DAOC for about 1 1/2 years and finally got bored with it. Talk about grinding! If GW holds my interest for only a year then it was well worth the money I paid for it.

I guess the bottom line is if you don't like it - move on. If you like it but think some thing need to be changed - there are other places to make those suggestions. If nobody seems to take your suggestions and that makes you hate the game - again move on. Its totally pointless to keep playing a game that you don't enjoy. Find another that you do enjoy, but don't try to spoil the enjoyment of other people. I don't go on DAOC's forums and constantly try to convince other people how bad or screwed up the game is. I just choose not to play anymore.

As for myself - I am enjoying it for now. If and when it stops being fun then I will move on myself. And i'm sure that i'm not going to just sit and complain and try to convince other people how bad "I think" it is.

Actually GW went downhill when Anerf decided to seperate PvE from PvP. And took real player skill outa PvP and put in Monkey see Monkey do PvP.

However the big question is will GW:EN satisfy enough current playerbase as it alone wont be bringing any new players into GW? I'm guessing around a sales number of 230000 - 300000 games will be sold for it. So its a bit iffy. As far as GW2 goes, Not on your life. Anerf has already shown numerous times they cant help but screw the player base over with so-called tweaks to game.

I'll be getting the expansion for free thanks to a friend of mine who works @ Gamestop. As for whether or not it'll renew my interest for a game I haven't played in months remains to be seen. Either way, I won't feel bad about pissing money away like I did with GW Factions. Currently hooked on Sword of The New World: Granado Espada even though its in beta form. But thats ok, retail version is supposedly coming out july 10th. Also playing Fury and Tabula Rasa beta games. Getting back into guildwars will be hard either way thx to nerfs left & right in the name of balance and bot-battling.

The only thing that will bring me back to PVE in GW is if it is balanced to be able to successfully hero/hench 100% of the game on HM.

And that is never going to happen. ANET dont want to give solo players any chance of having fun in GW.

Many of the funny 'whiner thread' often the person has a female necromancer for their avatar. Some sort of trend?

All the dungeons will be taken over by 5-man farming groups where only the elite and holy trinity need apply.
It happened in Sorrows Furnace, it happened in DoA, it happened in UW/FoW and the same fate awaits every other dungeon.

Anet needs to give every class a critical role in each dungeon IMO.
